Michael Notaro is an Alameda mediator who handles disputes involving real estate, construction, business and commercial disputes.
As a practicing real estate attorney since 2005 and licensed real estate broker since 1990, Mr. Notaro has worked in virtually every area of residential and commercial real estate, from partnership formation to acquisition, finance, conveyance, development, insurance, collections, management, litigation and brokerage.
He specializes in disagreements involving landlord/tenant, seller nondisclosure, zoning and land use, boundaries, fire loss, co-ownership (partition), mold, code compliance, breach of contract, fraud and real estate agents.

He received ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) training from retired judge Rebecca Westerfield and a mediation certificate from Ron Kelly (40 Hours).
A former intern for U.S. Congressman Bill Nelson and the US House Ways and Means Committee, Mr. Notaro is an active speaker and fund-raiser for worthy causes including the Kiwanis Club of Alameda. In 2011-2012, Mr. Notaro served as President of Toastmasters International, an organization with 300,000 members in 130 countries worldwide (www.Toastmasters.org). Mr. Notaro served in the U.S Coast Guard Auxiliary and received the member service award from the Department of Homeland Security and the USCGA commanding officer on August 3, 2015.
Mr. Notaro currently serves on the executive committee of the Alternative Dispute Resolution section of the Alameda County Bar Association. He has been an arbitrator for the State Bar of California Mandatory Fee Arbitration Program since 2012 rendering decisions on outstanding attorney/client fee disputes. Mr. Notaro is a Day of Court mediator for the Alameda Superior Court and received judicial recognition for program support and service on December 8, 2023. He is a member of the Italian American Bar of Northern California and past member of the Alameda County Bar Association Real Estate Section and Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Mr. Notaro is author of the bestselling book The Call of the Leader (2019, Dog Ear Press) and popular Lorman publication Law of Easements: Legal Issues and Practical Considerations.
Mr. Notaro an accomplished U.S. Master swimmer. He competed in the U.S. Masters National Swimming Championships in Irvine, California April 27, 2023. In the 1,650 yard freestyle event, he placed 4th in a time of 19.43.77. In the 1,000 yard freestyle, he placed 9th in a time of 12:10.19. On August 26, 2023, he competed in the Del Valle 10 Kilometer Open Water Swim and placed 14th overall in a time of 2 Hours 48 minutes and 10 seconds.
